Turkey’s Yunus Emre awards Iranian ‘White Clad’

Iranian ‘White Clad’ wins at the Int’l Yunus Emre Short Film Competition in Turkey.

Iranian flick ‘White Clad’ has won an award at the International Yunus Emre Short Film Competition in Turkey.

Written and directed by Reza Fahimi, the short flick received the first prize ($10,000) at the Turkish event.

The film is about an old woman who gives a block of local cheese she has made to Ahmad, a 10-year-old boy, in order to give it to his father, who is a teacher in the village, so the father can mediate and stop the execution of her young son.

Cast list of the short film includes Amir-Ali Razzaqi, Mohammad-Erfan Sadeqi, Behzad Dorani, Seyyed-Mohammad-Reza Hosseini-Kermani, and Fatemeh Radmanesh.

 ‘White Clad’ went on screen at a number of global events, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, the Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan, the SAMA International Film Festival in Sweden, the Linz International Short Film Festival of Austria, the International Amity Short Film Festival in Turkey the Slemani International Film Festival in Iraq, represented Iran at the 94th Academy Awards, and won the Best International Short Film award at the Slemani International Film Festival in Iraq.

The International Yunus Emre Short Film Competition is organized within the scope of the "Yunus Emre" year announced by UNESCO.

The 2021 edition of the festival took place on November 10-25 in Canberra.
